Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a diverse area, and my hardworking students come to school every day ready to learn. I love my students! They are hardworking, eager learners. They come from diverse backgrounds including various ethnicities and diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. I use whole-brain teaching strategies in my classroom, so my students are constantly engaged in learning and sharing ideas with each other. I want my students to have all of the essentials they need to be able to love life every day.
My Project
Most of us take for granted the ability to self-regulate when we are under stress or pressure. Help me help my students with disabilities find peace and tranquility within themselves with these sensory materials. The weighted vests provide feedback to help my students focus and self-regulate throughout the day. The weighted blanket provides a hug-like compression that encourages a calm feeling of security. Most of my students require different sensory breaks, and are in need of more options and resources. I want all of my students to be successful. I am hoping with these materials, my students will be able to participate in learning activities with their peers in more meaningful ways.
