My Students

I teach about 60 AVID high school students throughout the school year. These students focus on their futures by setting goals and learning skills that will be useful to their academic success and professional preparedness.

AVID students have taken the first step towards achieving their goals by applying, being accepted, and maintaining their participation in the AVID program.

The skills taught and acquired through AVID help close the achievement gap by preparing students to be college and/or career ready. Many students do not start the path towards college or for a career on a level playing field and are often starting with several disadvantages holding them back.

My Project

Students will use the tables to engage in critical thinking activities, planning service project ideas, participating in collaborative study groups, and applying skills needed to be college and/or career ready. The skills students acquire in the AVID will help them be successful in academics as well as learn how to be professional.

By implementing the use of these tables, students can brainstorm ideas real time as well as outline their plans for a variety of different projects.

Using visuals to draft projects, take notes, as well as outlining their ideas will allow students to collaborate with their peers to create a well thought out project that they can implement and make an impact in their community.
