Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a small Title I high school located in New York, housed within a campus of many small schools. As we service students primarily from the surrounding neighborhood, our students represent a diverse multicultural and disadvantaged urban population.
I work in an economically depressed area in New York.
Most of my students' families fall below the poverty line. Many are on public assistance; many others are barely surviving. Yet, my students are expected to meet the same educational standards as more affluent students of New York.
My Project
My proposal is to provide all of my students with the basic supplies one needs to complete all of their classwork and lab assignments in class. With class sets of makers, tape and dispensers, index cards, staples, paper clips, etc., individual students will not feel embarrassed to ask, nor waste valuable class time searching for these basic supplies. Once they have completed their assignments, with organizing bins, they can return the supplies to their proper bin for the next day's use. They will be more focused on completing tasks and therefore more apt to succeed.
Your act of kindness and generosity will be long remembered by our students.
Students will also know that there are people in their community who care about them and their education.
Please help me help those most in need. Your act of kindness and generosity will have a long-lasting impact on our students.
Help me make learning fun and engaging. Thank you for your generosity.
