Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students need to increase their language and writing skills. When 9 and 10 year old students come to school daily without supplies because they have no means to provide the supplies for themselves this does affect their academics. A lot of students are too proud to ask for assistance in asking a teacher for extra pencils to do homework or notebook paper. I believe a student should have full access to all of the supplies needed to make the learning process successful for each and every student. Without worry about writing implements or notebook paper or any other needed school supplies neccessary will help alleviate unneeded stress on my students.

My students come from low-socioeconomic households with little to no access to the neccassary supplies needed daily in the classroom.

They are bright, young minds with an ever-increasing desire to learn. Our school has limited resources, however, that never stops my students from wanting to succeed. They come in every day ready to take on whatever obstacles that stand in their way!

My Project

Our school has a very low socio-economic environment in attendance. With this said, it makes it extremely difficult on my 4th graders who come in to class with no supplies provided from home. It is not by their choice they have none, their families can not afford to provide for them, yet many times because of feeling embarrased or ashamed in front of their peers they will not ask for the supplies neccessary to do homework or projects outside of class.

With this project my students will have extra paper, pencils, erasers, journals, etc.

at their disposal anytime they need it so they do not need to worry about going without. They will be able to complete homework and class projects without worrying about not having the supplies needed. They will be able to focus all of their enegry on learning!!!!!
