I teach an Integrated co-teaching, first grade class. My class is full of diverse learners with different interests and abilities. My co-teacher and I strive every day to make sure we give our students an incredible education with the materials we have.
My school's area was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy a few years ago.
We are still rebuilding. Some families lost everything in the storm.
My students don't have much at home, so new materials would mean the world to them. I have seen my students make incredible gains already this school year. I can't wait to see their faces when we unwrap new materials for the classroom.
My Project
Early childhood students use a lot of materials. We do a lot of arts and crafts to help engage our learning and make sure our environment in warm and inviting. We need crayons and glue sticks in order to complete all of those arts and crafts. Bright cardstock will help make our room colorful and fun. We use pencils and dry erase markers every day in all subjects so it's important that each student have their own.
My student's cannot afford these basic supplies.
Being able to provide these items to my students will be a wonderful relief to them and their families.
