This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title One school in Philadelphia and almost all receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. They attend a typical inner city school. Most face serious obstacles before they even walk though the doors in the morning. Our goal is to make our school a safe and loving environment.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and different countries.
This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.
My Project
I would love for every student to come to school with pens, pencils and other basic supplies. The problem is that most students don't have these basic supplies. How can we expect them to learn without having these items? I want to make sure that they can walk in at any time and just grab a pencil. If we are doing class hands on activites they will have access to simple things like staples and post its. They will also be able to use the colored pencils for note taking and making projects in our classroom. They will use these for making posters and presentations.
