Help me give my students a replenishment of supplies needed to keep our classroom running. This includes a paper trimmer, pencil holders, and other items.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Some of my students face challenges outside of school and school is something for them to look forward to. They usually stop me in the hall and ask what we are learning that day before I even get a chance to walk in the door! My students are taught every day, not just through lessons, but through learning opportunities. They love hands-on learning, where they get to explore and solve through the use of manipulatives and materials.
My students are extraordinary, and so should be their learning experiences.
We learn through small groups and students get a choice on the activities they do. Alfred Mercier once said, “What we learn with pleasure, we never forget.” I hope my students always remember our class!
My Project
School supplies are constantly in need throughout the whole school year, not just the beginning. Teachers buy most of the supplies in their classrooms, including things that are not brought in on the school supply list. We love our students and want our classrooms to be productive learning environments, which comes from having the needed supplies.
As our year is rolling on, we are continuing to receive new students who are transitioning back to in-person learning, and even more are expected to come.
These students need dry-erase boards and markers to participate in our daily class activities. We also need pencil holders for our desks to prevent pencils from rolling on the floor. This used to not be a problem, but given our new safety guidelines, students can't help each other pick them up and we can't play the guessing game on whose pencil we think it is. I would also like some more cardstock and a paper trimmer since I am making more individual items and activities for students since they cannot use them in stations.
