My students need basic supplies which are going to help us get through every day. My students need crayons to color with so they can create and explore their imagination. We need pencils to write with!
When you are teaching in an urban school it is beyond crucial to get to know your students, to find out who doesn't eat at home during the week, who lives in a broken house, and who slept in a room with five other siblings. Initially those things might scare you, but when you get to know your students, you will quickly see what amazing young people they are. The dreams their young minds have, the way they always look at the positive side of things, and the curiosity about the world they bring to the classroom every day.
My students are fun, loving and ready to learn. We need materials to write and to learn. I need the materials to provide my students with the best education they can receive and deserve. Having a document camera would change the game in the classroom. It would give the students the opportunity to work together to solve problems. A new hole punch in the classroom would help with our classroom behaviors students are working towards earning 20 punches on their card in order to earn a price.
Teaching at a creative arts school means that we want our students to focus on art with education.
We need basic art supplies to assure the students have the opportunity to explore their creativity. My students love to draw and to create. I want to give them all the crayons they need to add creativity to their work.
The laminating sheets are also key in education. They are used to preserve students work and allow students to grow by using dry erase markers during learning games. My students have loved being able to play games like toothy, math answer races and spell-it games!
