Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in grades 2-5 in a highly urban city in Southern California. I teach music at two schools as a traveling music teacher. One of the schools has one of the highest amount of people living in a square mile within the state of California.
My students are incredibly bright, eager, and willing to learn music.
They come in excited to music class every day. For most, this is their first experience learning how to sing, play an instrument and read music. I work at two schools that have created a supportive culture for the arts and for that I am thankful.
My Project
These supplies will help more students practice at home. I recently got a project funded that gave students practice supplies to use at home. When some students started using those supplies, word quickly spread and now more students would like to use the supplies. These supplies will help students practice at home at a lower volume so that they do not disturb people in their home. I am also adding different supplies to help keep students healthy during cold/flu season. We do not have a sink in the classroom so students and myself rely on hand sanitizer to keep our hands clean.
