My students are amazing, highly involved, and motivated kids that deserve the best education despite their rural location. If they are in my classes then they have chosen to challenge themselves with learning upper-level science content that will benefit them as they continue their education after high school. Many are considering careers in health sciences, engineering, and the hard sciences. They are involved and successful in as many school activities as possible, and therefore, have talents in many areas.
One of the things I absolutely love about my students is their love for learning and for science.
Many of my students are involved in our science club, and their motivation in class is very high because they are able to apply many of the concepts to science competitions the club attends. My classroom is very student-centered and I spend most of my time just facilitating the students to discover and learn together. A classroom with lots of hands-on learning is key to allowing my students to learn content at a deeper level.
My Project
I teach six different courses, and science gets messy! With so much going on in my classroom, these supplies will help make all learning tasks run a little smoother. In being one-to-one, my student's devices are lugged all over. The bluetooth keyboards will allow students to keep working as their own Chromebooks begin to have hardware issues. Laptop shelves will keep my student's devices out of hazardous chemicals on their lab benches, and ear protection can be used by students doing construction projects or by students needing some silence.
Between multiple labs happening each day, STEM projects involving construction, and basic everyday learning, my students can use a few things to simplify and streamline our classroom practices.
Many of these items will be quite beneficial for small group instruction. Specifically, a remote for changing the computer screen at a distance can help to project key ideas or formulas. Dry erase sleeves can help students complete practice without having to make too many paper copies, and Rocketbook beacons will help digitize in-class notes and discussions.
