Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a Title I, 6-12 school, in the South Bronx. They come from all different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. One hundred percent of the students receive free lunch. In the ICT class, I have students with special needs, and it is important to have multiple access points to reach all students in a class.
The majority of my students come in with very low test scores in both ELA and math, but when they graduate high school, they are at or exceed grade level.
Students meet the social and emotional needs with the support of ICT teachers, school support, and after-school activities. Students are college and career ready when they graduate from school.
My Project
The materials in this project such as dry erase markers, pencils and sharpeners will help students improve their quality of writing. Additionally, it is a great way to engage all the students in the class by allowing them to actively participate in the lesson. Students will have the opportunity to come up to the board to show their answers to problems. They can teach each other by elaborating and expanding on their responses.
This will improve active student participation.
Each student will get their own dry erase markers and lead pencils to complete work in class. As the state exam is approaching, students will practice answering short written responses and essays. They will need every minute of class instruction time to prepare for the exams.
