Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school, a school with a high percentage of students from low-income families. Additionally, our school has a large population of ELLs (English language learners), which means they are trying to learn the English language while also attempting to meet the expectations of the Colorado Standards set for all high school students across the state, regardless of background.

My DonorsChoose.org project will cover our 9th through 12th grade ELL students who receive services.

We would like basic supplies that will help us be successful

Due to low-income backgrounds, most of our students have not been exposed to many of the experiences that are often taken for granted by the general population.

Students spend most of their time learning reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and life skills. Each day is a challenge, and we do our best to meet the needs of our students. School is often their happy place, where they grow and learn in a safe, comfortable, healthy, and understanding environment. Given the tools and opportunities to be successful can change their lives and

My Project

These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I would return to school this year we would be remote and learning through our hybrid model where they are in school 2 days a week. We may be switching through various models this year.

These highlighters, pencils, pens, and dry erase markers will help my students the necessary supplies for remote learning and in-person learning.

We are actively engaged in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate daily in Microsoft Teams meetings to go over new material and to check in with each other. In addition, I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation and by families' willingness to try new things.

My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households, and some are the babysitters and caretakers of their younger siblings. They lack basic supplies to complete their work and are in need of these supplies

Many of my students don't have the ability to learn online. Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing school being adapted to remote learning or a hybrid model, they are eager learners.

Most of my students are English Language Learners. They are from a Title I school in a low socioeconomic area.

By your generous donations, you will help my amazing students to become successful.
