I strive to foster independence in my students, which allows them to have a sense of pride and feelings of accomplishment. This encourages problem-solving when my students will be faced with challenges in the future.
I teach in a classroom where half of the day instruction is in English, and half of the day instruction is in Spanish.
I have both native Spanish and native English speakers in my class, as well as students who speak many other languages at home. In our class, my students are becoming readers and writers in both Spanish and English! Our diverse students love to learn!
My Project
My students need multiple leveled reading books to help them become strategic and successful readers. When students read appropriately leveled texts based on their reading level, they will be able to make the necessary growth to be an independent and strategic reader. We will use these books in small groups, and then students will keep them in their book bins. These books are engaging and in Spanish to support language learners. Once kids get hooked on one of these books, they will want to check out more from our school library. I'm excited to hook my kindergarteners on reading with these fun, engaging and exciting easy books! We also need some cleaning supplies to disinfect our tables.
