Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is a Functional Life Skills Special Education setting consisting of 9th-12th grade students at Desert Hot Springs High School. I teach a diverse group of learners with various needs and they aspire to do only their best!
They are inspiring individuals and I couldn't be happier to be their teacher.
My students require individualized instruction that is specific to their skill level. Every day they continue to practice functional life skills and academics that will allow them to be successful contributors to their community.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of new supplies that could be used for ELA, Math, Art, Life Skills as well as other areas of instruction. I am on a mission to get my students materials that will improve their classroom experience and contribute to maintaining an effective and enriching learning environment.
I teach students in my classroom who require sensory to help them focus, while others require manipulatives to enhance their learning and some need specialized ways to express themselves through art.
Giving my students access to supplies in the areas of sensory, manipulatives and art will open up individualized opportunities.
