Supplies to Encourage 5th grade!

Help me give my students some hands on materials for their upcoming genetics unit. I also would like to get 10 copies of the workbook by Scholastic to help my student go deeper into their text.

My Students

I have amazing students who are curious about the world around them and they want to be actively engaged in their education. They attend a public school in rural North Carolina that receives Title I funding. Almost all of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. The students come to school each day excited to discover new and exciting things.

The students are ready to tackle new challenges and engage in their education.

They are always looking for new experiences.

My Project

I'm requesting workbooks to help my students look deeper into nonfiction text and how to be able to gain information from what they are reading. These workbooks are filled with text that the students are interested in and want to learn more about.

I would also really like to get the genetics kit to have my students use the knowledge that they are gaining about how genetics work.

Students will be able to work through which traits are dominate and which traits are recessive. They will then get to create a creature to take home with them. This hands on approach will help the students solidify their understanding of genetics.
