Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At our school, 54% of students are English Language Learners and 93% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Diversity has become the school's strength with students coming from different economic and cultural backgrounds. Every morning, my 23 first graders come to school eager, enthusiastic, and ready to learn. With a remarkable "I think I can" attitude, these anxious six-year-old students are extremely excited and receptive to all new learning taking place in class. At the end of the day, they feel proud of what they had accomplished. My striving Rock Star scholars deserve the best, so they can achieve their dreams.

My Project

This project will help my class be more functional and bring some joy to my students. I have debated purchasing a printer for my class as sometimes it can be difficult to find the time to run to the printer down the hall, or sometimes their are multiple people waiting to use a copier, as well as on occasion we may be out of supplies for our printer. This printer and ink will allow me to print smaller quantity of copies within my class.

The smoother a class runs, the more time it leaves for learning.

Additional Harry potter books from the series will allow me to continue sparking joy during our classroom read aloud. My students have recently become obsessed with Harry Potter books. They would be so excited to continue reading this series once we are done with the first book of the series.

Students have also made some requests to make our class more functionable, they have requested a electric hand sanitizer dispenser as we already have one for soap. They also requested additional LED lights to create a more calming room for themselves.

Teachers pay teachers has become a great resource for additional support to many students as other teachers have created wonderful captivating lessons that can help with scaffolding for students that may need additional support.

Crayons will be used to send home with students to have coloring supplies at home to complete homework. Often times I do not send certain activities home in fear that some students may not have coloring supplies in their household to complete it. This will ensure I can assign homework that allows students to showcase their creative talents.
