What is there not to love when you spend your day with 24 six and seven year olds? Every day is a new learning experience filled with curiosity and eagerness to persevere! Teaching in an inner city school in upstate NY, I have found that children at this age are sponges, that are always eager to learn and explore new things!
I have 24 first grade students coming from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds, 100% of whom receive free lunch.
In addition, I have several ENL students who speak a variety of languages. I am so excited to engage this year's class! My goal is to help each child move into the 21st century by providing a classroom rich in engaging, hands-on materials and lessons.
My Project
Working with younger children, one can see how quickly you go through materials needed for engaging class lessons across all curriculums. We are seeking to replenish some supplies that we have used up in our classroom.
With your support, our class will be restocked with hands on materials to use during our math and ELA blocks, as well as providing new items for our various craft projects.
White board pens keep children engaged in all subject areas, but dry out fast. Magnetic activities and addition math balance provide hands on opportunities for children. Ink, vinyls, and photo frames will be used to label our stem bins and create new projects. And glue, every classroom needs more glue!
