Supplies Needed to Start New Band for Pop Ensemble
My students need an amplifier that can adequately power the speakers for the new student band that accompanies the choir's pop ensemble.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Want to support the next generation of creative artists? Wish you could have had your own rock band at school? That is exactly what our program is seeking to do.
Our public high school has a robust choir program that reaches the needs of students in our school from all walks of life.
We are proud that our program represents the great diversity that is present in our community and our school (minority majority - state and school). Part of that program is a highly selective pop ensemble. Students are chosen based upon their talent, dedication, and hard work. We are seeking to expand our creative inspiration to include students in the school who would not normally associate themselves with "choir." So, last year our pop ensemble started its own student band.
My Project
There are many students in our school that need something to keep their attention in school. They do not care about math, science, reading or history. They like music! Their lives center around guitars, drums, keyboards, and playing music with their friends. Many times these are the same kids that sneak headphones to class. Our belief is that if you reach the kids with what they love, they will do what they need to do to be successful. Our program provides them with a creative outlet to express their music, while requiring the very best from them academically. We have a strict non-eligibility clause (no pass - no play). So, our students work hard in class to do what they love in our group. While a single amplifier might not appear to be life changing, it opens doors. Musical equipment is expensive, but without it our opportunities are limited.
