Mrs. Chestnut from Washington IN is requesting Classroom Basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a rolling cart, pocket charts, anchor chart paper to keep us organized!
I teach at a school where over 90% of the students recieve free or reduced lunches. On top of that, over 40% of them come to school with English not being their primary language spoken at home. My students come to school anxious and ready to learn. They are very hopeful about the possibilities that life has to offer them.
We believe that ALL students are capable of success, no exception.
We look at success in many different ways and understand that we all won’t succeed at the same things, but we will succeed at what we put our hearts and minds too. My students are hard workers and love to come to school to learn as much as they can. School is a safe environment for our students and for many of them, this is the best part of their day.
Currently my school is one summer break, but I have already begun thinking about how to make the biggest impact on my students when we return in August.
The rolling cart, pocket charts, and anchor chart papers will help keep things organized and readily available to myself and students during both guided reading and math.
Having a rolling cart designated to guided math help to eliminate time wasted gathering materials for our daily lessons by having it all organized and easily accessible each day as I lead guided math to all students.
The anchor charts will help my students to be able to easily organize their materials are they work through independent work stations while I lead guided math and reading rotations. Having their work displayed in pocket charts on the wall also allows for me to monitor their work without being right their with them the entire time. I am able to make notes about their work I see on the wall and address it in small groups when they come to see me.
Anchor charts are a huge part of my teaching as it is how I introduce almost every lesson to my students. I want them to have large visuals that they may reference back to as many times as needed to help them process through their work more independently. These anchor charts will allow me to post these anchor charts around the room for longer accessibility.
