Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher at Sugar Grove Elementary. My school is located in a low income neighborhood where parental volunteers are very rare, and there is no PTO from which extra funds come. It is even more difficult now because we have taken on students from New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. The items that I will ask for are needed for teaching in a meaningful and exciting way. The atmosphere I would like to have in my class is a room of discovery, wonder, and enrichment. An LCD projector will make such a difference in the classroom. My students are constantly telling me that they can't see the board from where they sit. With this projector, every student will be able to see no matter where they sit. This projector will greatly increase my ability to work through assignments with my students rather than rewriting problems on the board and greatly increase the effectiveness and efficiency of my instruction. I am also requesting associated equipment, such as computer accesories, iPod, and everyday equipment so that my students can continue to have available to them the necessary equipment that will enhance their knowledge, realization, and development.
