Supplies! Help Fund Supplies for Financially Struggling Students
My students need basic school supplies that many simply cannot afford. HoustonISD is also still working on replacing and fixing campuses damaged in Hurricane Harvey which resulted in less money for our yearly budget.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach amazing students in Houston, Texas. These are hard working kids who I've helped grow so much this year, and I will have the exciting opportunity to move up with them next year and teach them again as 3rd graders. I know these families and I’ve made strong connections with these students.
I especially love that I get to teach in the neighborhood in which I live - these are my neighbors and community members!
Our school is a very unique campus located in the Houston Heights area. The Heights community is a vibrant collection of bungalow style homes, locally owned businesses, and a mix of young families alongside retirement communities.
My students reflect a wide range of abilities, ethnicities, and socio-economic statuses. The one thing that unites them all is truly a love of learning. These are some of the best kids I've ever taught, kind, inquisitive, helpful, and excited to discover their world.
My Project
I teach many students who simply cannot afford the basic school supplies needed for a successful school year. As a teacher, I never want my students to feel embarrassed about not being able to afford what they need.
This year, I had over half of my students struggling to buy simple supplies like pencils, glue sticks, and erasers.
These consumable items are used daily for interactive math journaling. When students help to build their math journal, the concepts become much more concrete for them and their understanding is strengthened.
Each year I spend between $250- $400 of my own money to help supplement their supplies, however, I simply cannot afford to personally buy ALL the materials my students need.
My school district is facing huge budget cuts for the coming school year due to the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, and the district will not be able to supplement school supplies as much as they have been able to in the past. This is why I'm reaching out to you to help bridge the gap!
