Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated aspiring artists. These young artists are eager to reach their full potential, but have a variety of obstacles in their way. The economic barrier which many of my students face is mainly low-income with over 70% qualifying for free or reduced lunch, thus making us a Title I school. I have a diverse group of students that come from all over Los Angeles County. These are hardworking students who are ambitious to grow academically and artistically. Our school has a dual mission to educate students in both academic subjects and the arts. They are college bound students who leave prepared for college and careers.
My Project
The use of art materials is a daily activity in my classroom. Using supplies and materials are needed in the sculpture classes so the students have an opportunity to create projects.
These projects give the students a chance to make pieces for the art shows we have here at school in the hallway, a chance to try different mediums and be able to express themselves through visual arts.
These materials are for mainly the sculpture classes but can be used in any of the arts classes. With your support, students get to use their fine and gross motor skills to make them a more well-rounded individual.
