This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk in every day excited and ready to learn. No matter the struggles and difficulties they may have at home, they walk in with a smile waiting to hear, "Good Morning."
I teach at a Title I school in Alabama where 90% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Several students receive extra resources (food, clothing,etc.) from those at and around our school community. This is because so many parents are unable to work or only have one working parent doing their best to provide just the essentials for their child. Many students attend our FREE after-school program or attend other FREE after-school programs while mom, dad, grandma, aunt, etc. work long hours at factory plants nearby.
My students are so hard-working and so deserving. I only strive to provide them with a safe and fun learning environment.
My Project
This project is to help my students get off to a great start and new year by providing them with some of the necessary supplies and reading centers we need and will use. Many students are unable to provide all of the necessary supplies they need so I like to help in any way that I can. This project will allow my students the opportunity to work to their fullest capability without having to worry about not having what they need.
Crayons, scissors and reading games are just some of the many items and supplies we need in our daily learning.
Helping with this project will provide my students with those essentials and more. We are all very grateful for the help and donations.
