My Students

My school is currently listed as a Title I school in Dekalb County School District. A Title I, Elementary holds high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. Though our students come from low income families they are scholars. My students are English Language Learners most are refugee and have parents that have come to America for a better life for their children. Students need the opportunity to learn through providing basic school supplies since they are growing up in a culture that being creative and hands on is a requirement. Students must use the materials such as glue sticks, pencils and folders to create work which will help them to apply what they have learned. In providing students with supplies, students will benefit in increasing scores on both MAP and Unit testing. School Supplies is a necessity for learning and my students deserve the opportunity to have the same advantages as other students which are not in a low economic community.

My Project

The 2019-2020 school year will be a year of interactive learning for the young minds of kindergarten students. The kindergarten students that I will welcome into the classroom are students that most times come without supplies which are needed to make the school year successful. The materials which I am requesting funding for will allow my 2019-2020 kindergarten students to be successful in the classroom. The materials for the 2019-2020 kindergarten classroom will allow students to participate in creating hands on activities and crafts. Students can use the materials I have requested to become an author and illustrator by creating their own books.
