Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach students who have autism. The school I teach at is in a low-income community. Given the fact that my students have a moderate to severe disability, they do require sensory materials and handcrafted lessons to meet their needs. My students are in a self-contained class for all of their academic subjects because not only do they have autism, but they also have a moderate learning disability; which requires me to individualize student instruction to meet their learning needs. The students in my classroom not only have to overcome their learning deficits but also have to work around their orthopedic needs.
Unfortunately, my class does not receive sufficient funds and resources to provide for my students specific academic and sensory needs.
My Project
My students require a lot of individualized lesson plans that are based on their individual needs. Since my students require individual lessons, I continually tailoring my instruction to meet my students' individualized needs. When providing personalized education to my students, I use more copy paper than is allocated to me for the school year. I also have requested student supplies such as pencils, erasers, highlighters, and gluesticks because these are the items that my students use daily.
Your gracious donation will help me provide my students with the essential school supplies that with make this upcoming school year a success!!!
More importantly, these items will help my students make great strides in all academics areas.
