We need supplies to start up our first ever school store! We are a group of students with a great idea to learn about teamwork and leadership while raising funds for school materials and activities.

The students in my Leaders Club: Marcedes, Daylen, Zakaya, Astrid, Ethan, Nia, Cashai, Julian, Deiondre, Jaelyn, and David have taken the initiative to propose a school store for our middle school grades. In our middle school, as in many schools, students struggle with needing snacks, losing school supplies, and needing essentials to make it through a day. In Leaders Club, students developed leadership and communication skills and then applied them to solving some of the common problems we face in our school. The club decided as a group to create a school store, interviewed a local small business owner, and developed a business plan. Our next step is to raise capital to start the store.
In this project, my Leaders Club has learned to analyze the needs of the school community, developed a plan to meet those needs, researched the things they need to know to start a business, and have worked together to determine the best items to sell. Through this process, they are learning about problem-solving, teamwork, curiosity, and prudence at the same time as they are learning about practical considerations like customer base, capital, location, regulations, and logistics.
We are trying to create the first ever GEMS store and make it a successful business. We want to earn money to benefit our school community. We are developing our creativity and problem-solving by considering what our customers (students) and other stakeholders (teachers, parents, school regulations) need from a school store. As a Leaders Club, we have developed our teamwork and problem-solving skills while learning about what makes a successful business. We want to see our idea succeed!
Our Leaders Club will work together with encouragement to make this business successful. We have brainstormed ideas about what to sell in our store, and how those items would affect other members of our school community. The idea for our school store was developed entirely by a group of students committed to meeting the needs we see in our school community.
This project is important to us because it will help the student body by providing school supplies, fidgets, snacks, and other items to meet students needs. When students don't have enough school supplies or are hungry, they can't concentrate on learning. We are also passionate about helping to raise money for fieldwork, books, materials, and other things our school needs.
