Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderful group of second grade students. I have a very diverse classroom environment that makes all of my students feel safe and welcomed. I have a wide range of students who come from all different backgrounds and each has a story that is unique and plays a factor in their learning. I run my classroom as if we are a family, a team, as leaders for each other. We support each others learning and we celebrate all our success.
I teach at a Title 1 School in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
My student's don't have a lot and I try to give each of them all that I can. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. For the majority of students, this is their only chance of the day to have a meal, and feel safe. Despite any hardship that my students face in their home lives, the students in my class are eager to learn and love school. Every child that enters my room is loved and knows that they are each and every day.
My Project
I am asking for supplies for second graders for the approaching school year. The students in my class are not fortunate to start the year with their own supplies. Due to the economic hardship they have students typically come with empty backpacks. The start of each school year students all around the country get the opportunity to go shopping for their favorite supplies to take with them to start their new school year. The students that enter my classroom are not that fortunate to come with supplies. I would love the chance to provide all I can for my sweet, wonderful students.
I am asking for supplies to give my students all they will need and help them to feel that joy of having their own supplies.
I am asking for folders for homework and classwork to go into. Students will each have a folder to keep all of their work in. I have also asked for basic school needs such as scissors, pencils, glue, crayons. These supplies would be used all year on a daily basis.
Lastly I have asked for storage bins. I would like to provide students with the chance to be able to each individually have their own supplies therefore I have asked for storage for all of students supplies. I would love to provide my students with the very best. I appreciate your consideration in donating to my project.
