This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are wonderful. Be it, in the classroom, on the playground, or in the hallway, they are always learning. More than half of my class is considered having a special need. With that comes many hurdles that we must overcome as a family. Although we must rise above these issues, we still run an aquaponics lab and fish farm in my classroom. The kids love the fish and are learning about how to be urban farmers. They love hands on learning and developing their math skills.

My Project

On many occasions I have students ask for pencils and paper. I purchased a lot of pencils but they continue to break or not sharpen well My students get frustrated when their pencils break or when my sharpener doesn't work. I do not like having to deny my students an education because I cannot afford to give them a simple pencil. I'm requesting Ticonderoga pencils and an X-ACTO School Pro electric pencil sharpener.

I also lack paper for them to write on.

It is difficult for some of my students with autism to write in a notebook. I need Staples lined paper for them to write on.

I have amazing students but they find it difficult to get supplies the majority of the time. If this project gets fulfilled I will not have to worry about this for some time.
