Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a full class of 120 6th graders. They are a group of hard-working students who try their best in every subject. I have an inclusive class with 24 students on IEPs and 96 general education students. The students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and carry heavy burdens from outside of school daily. I have worked hard to establish a positive learning environment with equity where all student feels welcomed and appreciated. It has become much more difficult with digital learning.
I acknowledge that all students have different needs and it is my job to make the content accessible to them; these tools will support student learning through a positive in-person experience.
Through digital learning I am working as hard as I can to meet students' needs and support their learning.
My Project
These supplies will help make my classroom a calmer environment. I want to use the fidgets to help students manage their emotions so they can learn. The lights will be used instead of the Fluorescent lights, the fluorescent lights are harsh on the eyes and my students often ask me to turn off the lights, but then it is too dark, these lights will prevent the tug of war of lights off and lights on. My classroom is also VERY hot; so the fan will keep the air circulating so the heat doesn't prevent students from focusing. Last but not least, my students often forget their text book, and having a printer in the class will allow me to copy the pages they need in the moment so students do not fall behind on assignments.
