My fourth grade students are wonderful! They are a very diverse group of kids who love coming to school to learn and spend time with their friends. Within the three math classes that I teach daily are special needs students, as well as students that are in our gifted program. The backgrounds of my students vary; some have had limited opportunities to travel outside their community, while others have taken them across many states, and in some cases, out of the country.
Over half of the students in my school are military dependents.
This can cause stress and anxiety for these youngsters. Our school community celebrates these students and the diversities that all of our students have. Our school is in an urban setting, within the housing area of a military base.
My Project
The use of whiteboards happens daily in my class. Dry erase markers to use on the boards are needed to allow the students to show their math work without the use of paper. During their independent work time, students are allowed to sit around the room to work with a partner or within a group and having access to clipboards to do their work would increase their productivity.
Anchor charts are tools used in our room as a constant reminder of what has been taught.
The Post-it Easel Pads are what I like to use to create the anchor charts. We use the Sharpee Flip Chart Markers to make the posters so the ink doesn't bleed through to the other sheets.
The pencil sharpener will allow the students to use an electric sharpener on colored pencils that been sharpened by a hand-held sharpener in the past. The time savings and efficiency when using this sharpener will be greatly appreciated.
