Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a low socioeconomic neighborhood in Las Vegas, which results in little to none of the basic supplies being provided for them. My 4th graders have big personalities and bid ideas! Regardless of their backgrounds, my students come to school with a smile on their face, ready to learn together.
Although, research shows living in a low socioeconomic neighborhood correlates to lower educational achievement, my students are the exception.
My 4th graders have disapproved research results the moment they walk in the door, ready to learn! They are eager learners, thinkers, and extremely curious of the world around them. The students show such strong motivation and willingness to learn and will eventually be our doctors, scientists, engineers, and very likely our next office officials. Our future needs support, and one way is to provide them with the essentials necessary for their success!
My Project
The art supplies and the self-stick pad will give students a white space to create and build on each others ideas when collaborating with groups. Students enhance each others ideas and learn best when working together.
These materials will give my students various opportunities to expand on their ideas and present their creative work to the class.
The highlighters listed will help students focus on the context clues or important information in their readings. This will teach stay focused on the important pieces in their reading. The folders will also keep students organized and will help them transition smoothly and quickly.
