Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are very motivated to learn. Many of my students come from a low socioeconomic background and struggle to provide their daily supplies needed. Our school is located in a small oilfield town where many layoffs have occurred putting a lot of oilfields workers without a job. You can see the struggle through the children when they aren't able to provide the necessary tools needed daily in our classroom. By allowing the opportunity for the students to have the needed materials, the students will not have to worry or stress about having to purchase their own supplies.
My Project
These supplies will continue to assist my students in becoming successful. Most students can not afford to supply themselves with the necessary tools to assist them in class. We are working on many strategies to assist them with their learning along with assistance in becoming successful students. We have a plan to guide them in the right direction. Our students will be very grateful for supplies such as pencils, highlighters, erasers, dry erase pens, and printer ink.
As their teacher, I want to make learning as easy as possible for my students.
I do not want them to worry about having to bring supplies to class. We will use pencils, highlighters, tape, colored paper, and colored pens for their note-taking. We will use the colored ink for the classroom printer to make copies of the notes for students who struggle at seeing the board along with projects in class. We will use dry erase pens and erasers in math to check for understanding throughout the math lessons. We will also use the colored pencils and crayons to animate our work on projects in class. Whiteout will be used for mistakes throughout our note taking. And finally, we will use Post-its as exit tickets as another way to check for understanding of the math and science lesson. My students will become better learners as they are provided with the supplies necessary to be an organized student.
Overall, as we enter a new school year, these supplies will definitely assist my students' learning in becoming better students.
