This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am very excited to be starting a new position teaching first grade in a different building. I have taught first grade before and it is such an exciting age, so full of discovery and wonder!
I have not met my students yet, but I know they will be amazing!
I know the area I will be working in is an area that serves low-income students. I have been told that many will not be at grade level. But that is not who they are. They are my kids--even if I have not met them yet. I want to provide them with the best.
My Project
The beginning of the school year is quickly approaching. I will be teaching in a new school this year in an area where the students often don't have the basics. I want to fix that.
Every child wants to succeed and every child need supplies to be successful.
I am asking for the basic supplies to help set up my students for success.
I am asking for lined paper, composition notebooks, pencils, erasers, markers, and chart paper. All of these are basic supplies to help my students learn how to read and write. I am also asking for communication folders to help communicate with parents, so they can be a partner in their child's education.
