Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend school in North Las Vegas in a Title I school. They live in a high-poverty area. My students are provided with free breakfast and lunch every school day, and some students are provided with a food bag on Fridays to have food to eat over the weekend. Most of my students are English Language Learners. My students come to school excited to learn new things and develop new ideas. My students have very limited resources which is why I try my best to provide them with experiences in the classroom that they otherwise would not have the opportunity to engage in.

My Project

The materials requested are essential to my students' learning. Supplies needed in every classroom are pencils, scissors, crayons, markers, glue sticks, and composition notebooks. The Expo dry erase markers are used for informal assessment as students write on their white boards to answer questions. The folders are used for students to learn organization through color coding subjects and placing assignment in the right folder. Students use highlighters to identify evidence to comprehension questions. Red pens are used by students to check and revise their work for them to receive immediate feedback on their learning. File folders are used to keep their personal documents, student portfolios, and student assessment data. Ziplock bags, laminating sheets, and colored paper are used to create interactive centers to engage students in learning all subjects. Lastly, the 3Doodler start refill plastic bundle will be used with the 3Doodler pens donated through DonorsChoose.org to continue engaging students through research and engineering.
