This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We Can Do Hard Things This is the motto in room 205 at Harrison Community Learning Center
My student come from one of the lowest poverty areas in the state of Illinois.
Our school is located across the street from public housing where many of the children are in horrible living environments. Every student receives a free breakfast and lunch and many do not come to school with school supplies to start their year.
I have created an environment where students feel safe and at home. We love, learn and grow together. With our classroom motto, we know that we can make mistakes and learn without giving up everyday!
My Project
Can you believe that I only had six students come to school with the supplies that they needed for an entire year of school last year? Everyone of them deserves a chance to learn, grow and succeed.
Each student is challenged to believe that "We Can Do Hard Things".
But how can we do this if we do not have the supplies that we need to succeed? This project will allow us to have pencils, crayons, markers and other basic supplies so that we can be life long learners.
We love to learn and would love for you to join us on this journey!
