My students need materials to help maintain their instruments in proper playing condition. Many families are either unable to purchase an instrument or for those that can afford renting, cannot afford the supplies needed. We need oil, drumsticks, clarinet and clarinet reeds.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
100% of our musical students eat free breakfast and lunch at Rothschild. The enthusiasm however my students bring to making music is exceptional. We are creating a dimensional school orchestra that provides both classical and hip-hop experiences for our students. The students work tirelessly everyday to demonstrate respect, leadership, and accountability to themselves and others. Although a Title I school, none of our students possess a "Title I" mentality and light up when they know they have conquered a piece of music.
My Project
Providing these needed supplies (Clarinet Reeds and drum sticks) to our students will ensure that they have what is needed in beginning band. This is the first year that band is offered at our school and the community has stepped forth with tremendous support! Students are excited about the opportunity however unable to purchase supplies that are necessary to continue in band. With these supplies, frustration is avoided and their success in band is guaranteed! For those exceptional students who are unable to rent an instrument and have a drive to perform, the clarinet provides an opportunity for them to still experience music in their day.
