Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a rapidly growing, rural community. We are a Title 1 School district and a majority of students receive both free and reduced-price breakfast and lunches.
In my room, we are a community of learners who support one another.
My students come to school everyday, filled with energy and excitement to learn! Most importantly, my students collaborate and support their peers, creating a positive atmosphere within the walls of our classroom. No matter what their home life may look like, my students know that they are in a caring environment when they come to school.
My Project
This project is focusing on making learning FUN! I am requesting interactive games and activities that will reiterate the lessons taught in class. The materials I am requesting are appropriate for students at every level.
With these supplies, students will have the opportunity to work independently or with partners to help focus their learning on a specific Common Core standard.
Some items that I am really excited about are the Wikki Sticks that will not only help with creating letters and numbers, but they will also strengthen students' hands as they work on their fine motor muscles. I also have included large floor games, that will allow students to get up and move, while they are learning!
Reading games like, Alphabet Go Fish, Crazy A's and Junior CVC Word Builders will be used in small group instruction. Math games like Zingo 1-2-3, Spot Math Game, and Shut the Box, will engage all students in small instruction or partner games.
I am excited to introduce these materials in math and reading centers!
