My students need these tools in order to better organize math manipulatives and supplies. We are in desperate need of privacy boards that will hold students accountable and help with monitoring student progress.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are my family. We sit and talk about our lives, we laugh and we learn from each other. I work at a Title I school with some of the most amazing kids I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My classroom is made of a diverse group of children who push to work hard and learn as much as they can each and everyday.
Though many of them come from economically disadvantaged homes and are going through more than you or I could ever imagine, they are strong , they continue to have a positive attitude and they give everything they can to increase their knowledge each and everyday.
My school is participating in No Excuse University and I have truly taken this to heart. We strive to instill in our students and parents that all students are capable of attending college if they so choose and NO ONE has the right to predetermine their future. I live everyday to ensure they have the tools they need to be successful in third grade as well as life.
My Project
These supplies will help with the organization and management of the class. Students will utilize pencil pouches, magnetic hooks and other basic student supplies to organize individual materials. This will help students learn to be responsible for items they own. It will also help minimize transitions from one lesson to the next.
Much of the items listed will be used to help organize the classroom and teacher lessons.
The low lying bookshelves will help hold student books and supplies and will also give students an opportunity for differentiated seating. In 3rd grade we try to make sure each student is set up for success and it can be difficult without privacy folders. This will help me hold students accountable and with monitoring. This should help me increase my understanding of who needs small group help vs. who has mastered a subject and is ready to move forward.
