My students are very special students. They are students that have an intellectual disability. This ranges from autism with behaviors to Downs Syndrome to those students that are just intellectually low. They work hard like their peers in general education but need a lot of one on one help. They want to learn and work hard! They are amazing. They like to work with hands-on materials. They work great with schedules and love to do job tasks. One thing they have in common is they are loving.
My Project
We will use these supplies to create job boxes, centers, folder games to help support IEP goals. We also use the materials to create and reinforce books at different levels. This is due to the fact that some students can read and some students just match pictures while being read to. We will also use supplies to help create student schedules so that they may gain some independence. We use the card stock and laminating pouches to make the file folder activities and books students read more durable. We also laminate some worksheets so that we can use them several times without copying as we are trying to save paper. We use the file folders to create file folder activities. We use them for independent and teacher-led work. We use materials to create job tasks boxes for them to do in their independent stations. The paper clips, big and small, are used with the task box to help answer the questions in the box. The students clip the clips on the correct answer. We will use the scissors during teacher-led activities. Giving them materials to help enhance their education is huge. But giving them ways to become independent is even bigger.
