Ms. Myers from Philadelphia PA is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students this awesome list of classroom supplies that will make our Learning Community so safe and productive! Several items will help with organizing our space and a few will help us with projects!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school is located inside an on-going renovated, old church campus in a neighborhood that battles urban blight, poverty, and nutritional apartheid. Over half of the students we serve deal with trauma and neglect on a daily basis. But if you spent a day in our bilingual classrooms, you'd see that none of these statistics stop our students from thriving. Our second grade students are learning math, science, reading and social studies in Spanish and English. With over 50 hungry minds to feed, your support of our DonorsChoose.org projects is what fills the gap you hear so often about in the media.
You help create the abundant opportunities for success that we strive for.
This project will supply basic classroom supplies to get us through the academic year!
6th graders need stools for flexible seating, glue sticks for interactive notebooks, and tools for organizing their work! These materials will be used daily in our busy middle years classrooms! Students will use thermometers to measure temperatures and clipboards to hold data collection sheets. The paper tower will go in our Work Processing center so students can sort papers between finished and need help. The paper shelf will go in our Peace Corner to organize reflection resources.
An organized, well-stocked classroom always has students that thrive!
All of these resources will help students store and find the supplies they need on their own. Sixth graders are amazingly independent, and when they have the supplies and materials they need organized and at their fingertips, they can do incredible work. The writing posters will be so helpful when exploring different styles and genres of writing. We have several budding journalists, poets, and novelists in our class this year. The stools will allow students flexible seating, so they can find the best space to work in. Because of your support, we will be able to get all the resources our classroom needs to look and feel like a self-sufficient academic workshop!
