Help me give my students the necessary supplies to learn life skills like sewing, organization, and recycling. With access to materials such as bolts of fabric, pattern paper, needles, and stuffing, students can learn to create with precision!
Students at our school are creative, practical, and quick-to-learn. As a Montessori community, we pride ourselves in incorporating a variety of types of learning experiences into the classroom. This year, we have the opportunity to experiment with elective classes in which students will learn and build upon their life skills, better equipping themselves for the world outside of the classroom.
Our students are incredibly excited to participate in the classroom overall, but especially for our new electives, they are showing particular enthusiasm.
We want to give them the best experiences in these classes and require materials to do so. With the proper materials, electives like Sewing and Yoga and Meditation will prepare our kids for the sustainable, exciting lives they lead!
My Project
We want to encourage creativity while teaching and learning skills students will use in their lives to create gifts, mend and hem clothing, and recycle old items into new ones! With these necessary materials, students will be able to practice and create in a low-pressure, yet academic, setting.
With these materials, students will learn to make hand-sewn patches, stuffed animals, pillows, and more!
We will also be creating a school spirit flag that will proudly fly outside of our middle school classrooms. Not only will kids be learning sewing and fine motor skills, they will use their creativity and collaborative skills to build confidence and augment school spirit.
