Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade bilingual students are so eager to learn and want nothing more than to do well in school. They come in every day with a smile and a good attitude. Many come from another country or are first-generation Americans. These children love hands-on activities, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to become better students. They come to school each day ready to try new things.
My goal is to make sure that all students, have all the tools they need to be successful and become life-long learners.
Our wonderful school is in a high poverty area of Chicago. Despite their obstacles, my students come in my classroom ready to learn and do their best every day. We are a high achieving, level one school.
My Project
Recently, things like multicolored packs of crayons and markers have become more of a luxury in the average Title I classroom rather than an obvious necessity. We are always short on supplies, such as crayons, markers, and paper. My students love hands-on, engaging projects and activities.
In order to be creative and work to the best of their ability, they need basic materials.
We need crayons, markers, and copy paper. My students will use the markers and crayons to create their masterpieces and I will use the copy paper to make copies so each student can have their own copy of important lessons.
With your help, we can revitalize these classroom materials so that my students can continue to express themselves and grow to their full potential.
