Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher teaching math to some awesome students at our elementary in Houston, TX. Most of my students are English language learners who have transitioned to ESL program from the bilingual program.
My school is primarily made up of students who come from Spanish speaking homes who are economically disadvantaged.
As a teacher I work hard to close learning gaps and create a fun inviting classroom where students feel empowered to learn. Our School is also a S.T.E.A.M school which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics into the classroom.
My Project
The materials that I have requested are items that will be used the most throughout the year. These materials will be used to track their data, store their work and store extra supplies throughout the year. By helping me provide my students with these supplies you are showing the students the community that is around them.
Since Hurricane Harvey has hit Houston many of my students have been affected.
Many of my students face challenges everyday such as, socioeconomic status, language and lack of resources. This project would give them one less challenge they would have to face by giving them the supplies they need to succeed.
