Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am celebrating my first year of teaching in an inner city school and I wouldn't have it any other way. I've learned so much from my students and they inspire me each and every day to be better. Most of my students currently receive free or reduced-price lunch. They face hardships and cope with a variety of circumstances outside of my classroom that might otherwise interfere with their desire to learn. However, they remain resilient and determined to grow as life-long learners. They walk into my classroom with an incredible enthusiasm and a willingness to take risks on a daily basis.
I teach 48 bright and enthusiastic third graders in a high-needs area of New York City.
My Project
These supplies will make a difference in my students education because they will have access to quality supplies and they will have everything they need in order to complete assignments. They will not need to stress over not having enough supplies to last through the entire school year. They will use the pencils, paper and erasers every single day for writing and literacy projects. We use post its during independent reading to record their thinking and jot down any questions they may have. I am also requesting tissues because the winter months have depleted our supply of tissues. Finally, I am requesting small toys and candy as rewards for making good choices both with their learning and behavior.
