This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good" - Malcolm Gladwell
My students will need to actively practice reading, writing, and math strategies on a daily basis in order to master content and concepts.
My students are 2nd graders in a Sheltered English Immersion classroom from Spanish speaking backgrounds.
I was able to meet most of my future students last year and they were excited for all the new learning opportunities they will have this upcoming year. My school is located in the inner city of Boston with over 900 students from K-8.
My Project
My students will use the dry erase boards and magnetic tiles as a fun tool to engage every student in reading, writing, and math. The boards will used in whole group instruction, guided small groups and learning centers. I will be able to use the white boards to assess what students are grasping concepts and who's not. My students will use the magnetic tiles to reinforce word study that will be taught on a weekly basis.
The magnetic white boards and tiles will improve the literacy and math skills that my students need to become readers, writers, and mathematicians.
My students will have the opportunity to practice strategies as the white boards are the perfect tool to try a new concept and easily erase.
