Imagine being forced to move and you are not allowed to take your everyday basic items with you. This is how I am feeling. My Specialized Special Education Program was moved to a new school and now I am scrambling to find basic supplies such as writing instruments, a pencil sharpener, and a stapler.
My classroom is made up of students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities in kindergarten through the second grade.
They attend their neighborhood school and receive specialized instruction and support. They are a diverse group of learners who are very excited to learn new skill. My students benefit from lots of repetition, hands-on activities, and the use of technology.
My Project
I have requested resources that will help get the school year started. We currently are using supplies that are left over from last year or items I have dug up around the school. My students love to learn. The requested markers, crayons, and highlighters will allow students to create and express what they are learning. The stapler, pencil sharpener, and hole punch will help both the students and I to stay organized and complete our work.
Your help will ensure that my students have access to the activities available in the classroom.
These resources will allow students to have individualized activities and time to practice the skills over and over.
