My Students
My goal is to inspire scientific curiosity with my students. These tools display neat and interesting mechanisms and can facilitate question development by many students who see them. I believe that every student is capable of learning and excelling, they just need someone to light the spark.
My School is a Title I school with a large percentage of my students come from underserved neighborhoods.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to provide my students with the necessary tools to change their current living situations and to excel in life outside of my classroom.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help getting everything through our door! The students, to create daily lab journals, will use the paper, stapler, markers, and other supplies of the sort. These supplies will also be used for classroom projects. Many students do not have the technology to do presentations so they choose to present their work through posters and such. I have watched my students run into a second roadblock upon discovering that they must furnish the supplies necessary to complete their projects. I would like to do as much as possible to remove this learning block. The Kleenex will serve as erasers for their personal white boards, as well as the traditional use for Kleenex. The Kleenex will also help minimize classroom disruptions, as students will no longer have to leave the room due to blocked nasal passages. The whiteboard markers are used for our independent whiteboard activity which gives students the opportunity to receive immediate feedback from me when working problems.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in STEM courses such as chemistry.
We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long learners and writers. Many of my students are not able to purchase classrooms supplies. In these instances, I tend to give them away. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
