Our school is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. My Physiology students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and many are interested in the medical field. Although my school is located in the Bay Area due to budget cuts it has become increasingly difficult to provide well-equipped classrooms. While many schools in the area are able to provide students with the supplies to succeed in a 21st century science class, it is difficult to do without the necessary supplies. This donation will help students of all backgrounds to engage in a science setting and will help prepare them to contribute to both the local and global science community.
My Project
Our High School is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students at this school come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. However, due to budget cuts it has been difficult to equip our science classrooms with basic tools. Many of the tools that we do have are out of date or no longer function. Materials such as dissecting kits and beakers will be used across the department in several different classes including Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science.
As a Biology teacher my hope is to provide my students with the opportunity to dissect owl pellets during our Ecology unit.
In addition, the blood pressure kits are a valuable tool used in several different Physiology units. Overall, these supplies will help our department engage our students in hands-on learning and up to date learning strategies.
