I teach civics at a Title I school near West Palm Beach Florida. My students take a Civics EOC (End of Course Exam) at the end of the school year that we prepare for all year long. Preparation in class is vital for the students to be successful and be a positive citizen of the country.
My students LOVE to learn and LOVE doing hands on activities.
I love keeping my class entertaining and interactive. To keep them interested, I try and do as many interactive lessons and activities as possible. Doing hands on lessons sometimes means the need for supplies like paper, card stock, task cards, etc
My students love learning about civics ideas and concepts while using hands on activities. I love creating games, card sorts and activities that involve them working collaboratively and working around the room.
This project gives my students the ability to work collaboratively.
By giving my students the ability to create card sorts, projects and hands on activities, the students will learn about civics ideas and concepts.
My students also like to work around the room. I have a corner in the classroom where students can sit together in non traditional seating. Unfortunately, it is hard for he students to work without something to write on. All of these items will increase the amount of hands on activities my students can have.
