My students need new supplies for our classroom pet. They are in desperate need of pencils to complete assignments and gloves for chemistry labs. My students need a display case for a mineral and fossil collection.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher at a low income school I watch my students overcome challenges and obstacles daily. My students are both courageous and resilient. The majority of these children experience the difficulties that come along with poverty on a daily basis. Most of my students come from single parent homes and have very few people that support them.
Despite every negative aspect weighing down on these children, they somehow arrive at school every day wearing a smile and ready to learn.
My kids are the future. They are strong, driven, and ready to improve the world. All my children need is someone to believe and invest in them.
My Project
My students need some basic supplies like pencils, dry erase markers and colored pencils. These supplies are critical to the classroom, and without them the room doesn't function and learning is near impossible. Also my students need food, bedding, and treats to care for their class pet, a guinea pig named Chunk. Since gloves are one time use, my kids need a new supply of gloves for carrying out chemistry labs.
A small display case will allow my students to view a new mineral and fossil collection that was donated to them for their Earth science unit.
The rock collection is beautiful and has sparked a new interest in geology for several of my students; it would be great to be able to display it for them year round. Lastly my students have no rewards for positive behavior. A bulk box of candy would help with positive reinforcement in my classroom.
